How heartbreaking it is to see old people fending for themselves, because they have been neglected by their family?
As Filipinos, we are known to be family oriented. That is why it still bothers me that there are some who abandon their elders.
Just like in this scenario, where a disabled old woman caught the attention of netizens.
On Facebook, netizen Al Vincent Antonio shared photos of an old woman on a wheelchair, looking for garbage to take.
Antonio also asks the authorities to look for the old woman’s family and to inform them about her current situation.
Unfortunately, he was not able to get the name of the old woman.
“Sa mga nakakakita po kay Nanay, sa Muzon, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Nanghihingi po ako ng tulong sa inyo para po kay Nanay, Tulungan po natin siya para malaman ng kamag–anak niya ang kalagayan niya, at tulong pinansyal na rin. Nakakaawa po ang kalagayan niya.” Antonio wrote on his caption.
(To those who knows Nanay in Muzona, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. I am asking for your help for Nanay. Let’s help her inform her family about her situation and also financial assistance. I really feel bad about her situation)
Moreover, the post gathered a lot of reactions from the netizens that it went viral. As of this writing, the post already has 27K reactions and 46K shares.
In addition, a netizen named GW EN also shared they went to visit the old woman. Apparently, Lola only earns around PHP 30 from collecting garbage. She use her money to buy food.
